Texas Monthly is the first tenant to sign up for space in an eight-story building slated to rise at East Avenue.
The award-winning magazine will take the entire top floor of the 206,000-square-foot, Class A building that will include offices and ground floor retail. Construction will begin in May with completion in summer 2009. Texas Monthly and its 88 employees should move in to the approximately 25,000-square-foot space around that time.
East Avenue is $750 million mixed-use redevelopment of the former Concordia University campus next to I-35 in Central Austin.
Texas Monthly has been in the Austin Centre building in downtown since 1989.
Jay Lamy and Liz Tucker of the Staubach Co. represented Texas Monthly in its search for new office space. Bart Matheney and Chad Barrett of Aquila Commercial handled negotiations on the landlord's behalf.
