Jay Lamy founded AQUILA Commercial in January 2007 after spending seven years growing The Staubach Company's Austin office. During his tenure at The Staubach Company, Jay was honored numerous times by the Austin Business Journal and others for his outstanding work on some of Austin's most highly visible transactions.
Jay has leveraged his background in investment banking and venture capital to better serve his clients in the commercial real estate arena, specifically on lease acquisitions and dispositions and asset purchase and sale transactions. Prior to joining The Staubach Company, Jay worked with Bariston Partners (1998 - 1999), a merchant bank / venture capital group in Boston. At Bariston, Jay focused on new company acquisitions and financial advisory work for existing portfolio companies seeking additional equity and debt financing. From 1996 - 1997, Jay worked in CIBC Oppenheimer's investment banking group in New York, where he was an analyst in the Financial Institutions Group focusing on merger and acquisition transactions and public equity offerings.
Notable Transactions
• Catholic Diocese of Austin – Negotiated the purchase of a 53,000 square foot owner occupied building in Northeast Austin from the Texas Hospital Association
• Charles Schwab - Secured over 166,000 sf of Class A office space in the largest office lease and lease restructure transaction in the Austin, TX market in 2008
• RGM Advisors - Negotiated a 33,000sf downtown Class A lease for client's global headquarters. Second largest downtown office transaction for 2007
• Compass Bank – Negotiated a 29,000sf office and 4,000sf retail lease transaction into a new development at 5th and Mopac and secured naming rights of Capstar at Compass Plaza
• Texas Monthly – Negotiated for 23,000 sf of new lease space in the new office development at University Park
• Goodwill Industries of Central Texas – Advising on the search for land or a building to accommodate 120,000 square feet of retail, job help, recycling and distribution center
• Sony Online Entertainment – Negotiated on a lease acquisition of approximately 38,000 square feet at Prominent Point II
• Sanctuary Lofts – Asset Management and repositioning a student housing project in San Marcos, TX
• 400 Bowie – Marketing for sale this 20,000 square foot office building located across the street from the Whole Foods market
• BancVue – Advising on a 50,000 – 100,000 square foot lease/purchase acquisition
• Crossroads Systems – Advising on a 30,000 square foot lease acquisition
• Stone Solutions – Advising on a 50,000 square foot lease acquisition
• 2002 – Cadence Design Systems – 68,000 square feet – largest Austin lease restructure in 2002
• 2003 – Broadwing Communications – 128,000 square feet - largest suburban lease restructure in 2003
